Hello Dan,

I am delighted to see your personal branding predictions. I made a few of my own (coming out in an article at marketingprofs - soon I hope) and many have connections to your predictions, yet a few are different. It will be really exciting to see the year progress and watch the evolution of personal branding.

All the best to the Brand Called Dan Schawbel in 2009!

William

It's going to be interesting to see the civilization of the web. In other words, blogging, social networking and viral marketing - heretofore primarily a venture in amateur guesswork and trial and error by entrepreneurs - is being formalized with college courses and perhaps even specialized degrees! Am I the only one who thinks college is kind of unneccessary in this area (kind of like that journalism degree I got)? But apparently it will become necessary because the whole field is about to get a lot more competitive.

2 quick things--

1. what schools offer social media classes- i'm desperate to know

2. you should make commenting easier on your blog, could encourage greater participation. At the end of your post have a comment thing for people who just read off the homepage, instead of having to scroll up to comment (hope this helps)

What about video resumes? Do you think employers will begin to want more from the applicants as the market for talent becomes even more competitive?

I think you're right. Media (especially print) will see terribly difficult times, while your niche may skyrocket...

I guess you're looking forward to it, don't you

(I've recently found your blog, and I'm a subscriber, so thanks for all the info, I'm having a great time reading it)
