Joining Google+ can be great for your personal brand. After all, some of the first people to sign up for the site were major influencers in a variety of different industries. And don’t you want to connect with those types of people?
If your brand has hit a few road bumps along the way or you’ve simply neglected it up until now, Google+ can help you take the reins back once again. Here are a few ways it can save your personal brand:
It can serve as a central hub for your online presence. You might have a presence on all of the major social networking sites (whether it’s strong or not), but without a central hub to send people to, how will they know where to find you? On your Google+ profile, you can add links to your LinkedIn profile, Twitter account, Facebook page, company website and whatever else is associated with your brand. As long as you keep your G+ profile public, it can be an easy way to direct others to your information all at once.
It can help you target your different audiences more effectively. If you’ve been having trouble deciding what content to share on which channels and where your audiences are, Google+ can help with that. You can create separate Circles for each group of people you’re looking to interact with and share appropriate content to select Circles. This also helps reduce information overload – what some people consider spam in their feeds – from sharing all of your content on every channel.
You can easily mix personal and professional without worry. On other platforms, it can be difficult to determine what you’ll share and with whom because of their specific purposes. Google+ is different due to the wealth of privacy settings and the ability to segment your audience. You’ll no longer have to worry about sharing something personal as long as you choose a specific Circle of people to see it. Don’t want to share too much business content with your family? No need to worry about that, either.
