Negativity is contagious and even if you do keep it to yourself, it will still show. Instead, relieving that negativity by taking a walk or spending time with family. Even when you pretend to positive, people will still notice it in your tone, attitude, and expression. It's a cliche, but being positive really goes a long way. Look at 90% of the job postings out there, "positive attitude" is usually near the top of the "want list". Be a positive Pete instead!

Great and timely post. What many people don't realize is that mood states are actually contagious. Just being in the presence of a negative person can subconsciously trigger a negative emotional state in you if you're not careful. Some of the most recent research points to "mirror neurons" being involved in this process. But you don't need to study neuroscience to know that attitudes - both good and bad - can rub off on you!

Thank you for this great post! A lot of research supports what you're saying, showing us that sharing a positive attitude can actually (scientifically) *produce* success in our lives. If you haven't already, you might want to check out www.positivityratio.com and/or read Dr. Barbara Fredrickson's book "Positivity" ~ very thought-provoking! Thanks for sharing such a great message.
