I was fortunate enough to be one of Beverly's students in this course. It was really useful! The speakers' real world experience was insightful, Beverly and Karl were able to guide us through the changing world of social media in a way that paved a path that could be applied immediately into real life applications. THANK YOU!!!

I applaud you on the creation of this course! Yours seems to be one of the first universities to attempt to stay caught up with today's ever evolving marketing mediums! I graduated two years ago with a degree in Advertising, and at that time I couldn't tell you what a blog was! I'm a self taught e-marketer, but I know I would have gotten a much larger head start had I had a professor like you who would have introduced me to blogging, twitter, and the whole social media world.

As a recent graduate, and on behalf of many of your students who I am sure would like to tell you how much they appreciate this course, thank you!

It's great to see social media being integrated into education. Coming out of school I had no idea what social media/networking was outside of Facebook. Now I can't live a day without it and it has opened my life up to so many new and exciting opportunities.

A great comment, Jennifer. While history is important, the lion''s share needs to shift to application which is exactly what Beverly is doing. These are exciting time in our hyperconnected world!

@Mercy Your post is insightful as to what the future hold for internet marketing and personal branding. As you guys are pushing it from the classroom, we look forward to see more student launch out on a large-scale with this powerful idea of the web 2.0 phenomenon.

Thanks for the shout-out about my Marketing via New Media class at UCSD. It has been a lot of fun to teach that class and to swap ideas with you and your class. Blogging has been a great way for my students to learn about what it takes to maintain a social media property and to truly understand what I mean when I tell them "social media isn't really free - it takes time and resources"!

My new semester starts tomorrow, and I look forward to continuing to share with you, and others, as we blaze this trail.

Thanks, everyone, for your terrific comments! I really appreciate your ideas and would love to know what you think should be included in next semester.

You'll also want to know about a 1 day conference on February 25 that will be held on campus focused on Social Media Marketing for Business. Unbelievable speakers from Sony, Sprint, and Yahoo and others. If you're in the LA area, I hope you'll consider coming. Follow the conference info on @gravitysummit
