Great post. I've been working on all of these and I have directly gotten job interviews because of the work I'm doing on building my personal brand.

@Tony- Awesome comment! I like your "just do it" attitude and I bet its helped you to create your personal brand quicker than others. It's important to remember that the reasons for building your personal brand should be self defined because we all have different goals for ourselves. But, as you correctly point out it takes being an active and committed participant to achieve the greater goal.

Interesting. The most important line her is: "What are you waiting for — go get started!" Dare to be different, and find your own path.

You will always have your personal brand. It doesnt matter what your business or career does. Your brand will always be with you and so will the opportunity that you have made for yourself with it. To many people don't realize that even if you plan on working for someone else you have a personal brand that you cna develop to get ahead.

Chad, thank you for another great post on The Personal Branding Blog. Insights like the one you cite are why the content of this blog is essential daily, reading for me.

My reason or goal for diligently building my personal brand is to establish a credible and reputable online presence. Your point about moving up in the Google Search Rankings is so important(regardless if we are gamefully employed or searching for our next professional opportunities).

I invest significant time in my personal branding profiles on Google, LinkedIn, and Twitter (and that includes the tweet content) because they comprise my Online Professional Portfolio. The only way I know to achieve the many important objectives that both you and Yinka cite is to "just do it."

In the online world and personal branding, you have to be an active and committed participant. Otherwise, you risk losing out on the unsolicited personal and professional opportunities so clearly articulated in your post.

Thank you for your thought-provoking content.

Chad, your lists are very great. No one will deny that building strong personal brand does not compensate for the time investment. One of my best reason is to be helpful and gain recognition internally for it.
