In my 16 years as a recruiter and 4 years as an Executive Career Coach with over 400 clients coached in the last 4 years, I have a belief that the most qualified person never gets hired and the most qualified person never gets promoted. It is the person who can successfully SELF PROMOTE that gets the job and gets ahead! I can tell you that the number one way for Executives to get hired is Networking. Asking my "Introverted Thinkers" who are HIGHLY talented to self promote in the community or within their company is PAINFUL! I look forward to recommending Self-Promotion for Introverts®: The Quiet Guide to Getting Ahead (McGraw-Hill) to my future clients!!!

Great article. That sounds like a book just for me. I don't know that I'll ever develop a taste for public speaking, but at least now I know that when I get an inkling of what I call "social overload" and need to go off by myself for a while, it's just a normal part of being an introvert. Thank you, Nancy, for giving me that insight.

What is the difference between Introverts and shy people?

What attitude we need in today's social world?

Thank You!
