Most likely, the reason you are not achieving all the success you want and deserve is because you don’t “feel worthy” of that success.  Now before you dismiss this statement as new-age, psychological nonsense, please stick with me for a moment.

We’re not worthy

Personal branding is the process of creating your unique name and image, which is first created in your mind; and then transcended to those you seek to relate to, whichever way you choose to promote your brand. In other words, if you feel that your personal brand (who you are and what you represent in value) is worthy, and differentiates and distinguishes you in all facets of life – including the marketplace and the job search – you will achieve an abundance of success.  If, on the other hand, you consciously or subconsciously doubt your own worth, are uncertain about your value, and question your own authenticity and belief in yourself, underachievement and unhappiness will forever haunt you.

My own experience

A number of years ago I asked myself why I was so successful in my career, was a best-selling author, and an industry leader… but never made the money I expected to make.  I then asked myself why I wasn’t making millions of dollars based on the work I do and the contributions I make.  I must admit to you that the question itself was uncomfortable, if not painful, to ask.  It just didn’t feel right saying the words ‘making millions of dollars.’

Hey, ask people you meet if they want to become millionaires, and most will respond that they don’t need millions; they just want to be comfortable.  You see, most people are uncomfortable with the concept of making millions of dollars.  Why?  Because they don’t feel worthy!  The bottom line here is this:   I worked hard at my craft, enjoyed what I did for a living, and expected to be compensated for it.  But there is a HUGE difference between ‘expecting’ success and ‘feeling worthy’ of attaining success.

“Jay, you simply don’t feel worthy of such success,” a good friend and internationally renowned success coach told me.  “You don’t fully believe in your brand. To thine own self you are NOT true.” He said. “The truth is, your worth or value is best measured by your own yardstick. Altogether too many people would rather wallow in self-pity than accept the power within that they own their self-worth.”

I have conditioned myself to PAY ATTENTION to anything that sounds absurd or makes me feel uncomfortable.  So I decided to study this concept of “feeling worthy.”  I have met thousands of people over the years who told me they’d love to write a book, become a motivational speaker, become a world-class musician, meet a person and have a world-class relationship, or land a world-class job.  But if they truly believed in their personal brand (themselves) and would really love to achieve these noble goals, why do most people fail to get out of the starting gate?

If sales professionals and job seekers believe in their brands and feel their products and services are worthy; the only obstacle to success comes down to whether they feel worthy themselves.  If they do, they will effectively overcome objections to sales, fear, rejection, and setbacks.  In fact, anyone who believes in their brand and feels themselves worthy of success, will become successful.

You are worthy of success: you are a worthy brand

Yes, you are worthy of success.  Yet, if you are like most people, you believe that worthiness is reserved for a select few.  “I deserve to land a good-paying job, live in a big house, drive a fancy car, and provide my family with everything they want,” John says.  But what John doesn’t realize is that all the expectations demanded of him over the years from his environment have subconsciously provided the single greatest obstacle to success… he doubts his own worthiness.  But as soon as John believes he is a worthy brand… worthy of landing a good-paying job, living in a big house, driving a fancy car, and providing his family with everything they want, he will attract it.

Indeed, the process of creating an authentically worthy brand is not an overnight process.  Personally, I used powerful affirmations to overcome my challenges to recondition my beliefs. It took a good 3-6 months, but once I felt the power of feeling worthy, miracles began to come in droves.  So let me share with you some success strategies that have worked for thousands of people I have worked with; where the major barrier to achieving unlimited success came from that nemesis called “I don’t feel worthy.”

  • Use powerful affirmations 5 times a day with deep emotion and reinforce you are a worthy brand
  • Use the Socratic method of asking higher quality questions to get higher quality answers
  • Focus on all that you have accomplished; not on what you have failed to accomplished
  • Visualize 3-4 times a day all that you want and feel worthy of.  Remember, if you can see it and believe it, you will attain it.
  • Meditate and rest the mind; allow worthy and empowering thoughts to fill your mind and heart
  • Be aware of your thoughts and replace negative thoughts by enjoying each moment (as future moments are no way guaranteed).
